On the morning of April 12, 6-year-old Macie Semrau decided she didn’t want to go to school. She was so desperate to stay at home that her mom, Kate Semrau, ultimately relented, allowing her to stay with her 4-year-old brother and father.
Father Kyle Semrau, 37, works night shifts and awoke that morning not feeling good.
But it wasn’t until his partner Kate departed the family home that things went worse. According to sources, Macie initially recognized something was amiss when she heard her father screaming in distress.
She and her brother Caleb made their way down to the basement, only to see their father drift in and out of awareness.
However, Caleb, 4, tried his hardest to console his dad.
First responders responded quickly, and Kyle was taken to Wentworth Douglass Hospital in Dover, New Hampshire. He was provided oxygen for three days there.
The Elio Police Department also praised Macie’s fast thinking on social media.
Wow! What a brave reaction to what must have been a terrible circumstance.
Who understands what might have occurred if Macie and Caleb hadn’t been there to aid her dad.
