Tina Turner, the iconic singer famed for her sensuous voice, has passed away.
The Queen of Rock’n’Roll “died peacefully” after a “long illness” at her home in Küsnacht, near Zurich, Switzerland, according to a statement received by Rolling Stone. She was 83 years old.
Her official Facebook page also verified the news: It is with profound sorrow that they announce Tina Turner’s death. She charmed millions of admirers worldwide and motivated future stars with her music and inexhaustible zest for life. Turner, who was born Anna Mae Bullock on November 26, 1939, in Nutbush, Tennessee, achieved popularity in the 1960s as a member of the Ike & Tina Turner Revue.
Her relationship with Ike, on the other hand, soon deteriorated.
Her relationship with Ike collapsed the day he figured out she was going to be his moneymaker, Turner writes in her 2018 book. He needed to control her, both economically and psychologically, so that she could never leave him.
Despite the duo’s popularity in the 1960s and 1970s, the abuse became untenable, and Tina eventually left Ike in 1976 and divorced him in 1978.
She went on to become a trendsetter in the rock genre, establishing global records for ticket sales and collecting several honors.
