A 10-year-old child from California died days after being hurt in a fight with another youngster at a nearby trampoline park.
Anthony Duran died on April 17, four days after being engaged in a “brief physical altercation” on April 13 at the Rockin’ Jump Trampoline Park in Merced, according to the Merced Police Department.
According to witnesses, the youngster was playing basketball in the park when he and another child started fighting.
As a result, Duran collapsed, and the other juvenile fled on foot, according to authorities.
At 5:12 p.m., police were sent to the location.
Duran was sent to a regional trauma center, but he did not survive, according to authorities.
According to authorities, detectives investigating the matter have analyzed video of the event taken on the establishment’s surveillance camera. They have also interviewed 35 witnesses, including staff, parents, and kids who were present at the time of the occurrence.
Detectives identified the other youth involved in the altercation and have been in contact with the parents throughout this investigation, according to police.
The Merced County Coroner’s Office is conducting an autopsy to ascertain the cause of death.
Detectives are working with the Merced County district attorney’s office to decide if charges will be brought.
