Dolly Parton Hits the Halftime Stage in Thanksgiving Game in Cowboys Cheerleader Outfit

This Thanksgiving brings a touch of rock ‘n’ roll, courtesy of Dolly Parton. Following the launch of her latest album, Rockstar, the country music icon graced the stage at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, for The Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Kickoff Halftime Show during the Dallas Cowboys Thanksgiving Day game against the Washington Commanders.

For her dynamic performance, Parton donned a variation of the Cowboys’ cheerleader uniform, featuring a white vest adorned with blue stars, a revealing blue crop top, and white shorts. While the outfit gave the illusion of a bare midriff, Parton’s stomach was actually covered by a completely bedazzled mesh, featuring a crystal star over her belly button and additional crystals embellishing her tights.

Parton commenced the halftime show with her timeless hit “Jolene,” seamlessly transitioning to another classic, “9 to 5.” The iconic singer also treated the audience to her rendition of Queen’s “We Are the Champions.”

Having been announced as this year’s Thanksgiving Day game halftime performer a month prior, Parton expressed her honor in collaborating with The Salvation Army. In a press statement, she emphasized the significance of the Red Kettles as a symbol of hope for those facing challenges, encouraging generosity to support neighbors in need during the holiday season and beyond.

The celebrated singer-songwriter unveiled Rockstar, her 30-track album, on November 17. The album features a mix of covers, original compositions, and collaborations with notable artists like Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Elton John, Pink, Brandi Carlile, Melissa Etheridge, and Sting, among others.

Prior to the album release, Parton shared her rendition of Miley Cyrus’ “Wrecking Ball” in a duet with the pop star, who happens to be her goddaughter. Reflecting on the song in an Instagram video, Parton likened the impact of “Wrecking Ball” to the profound effect “I Will Always Love You” had on her when sung by Whitney Houston. Cyrus reciprocated the sentiment on Instagram, expressing gratitude for the collaboration and highlighting the sweetness and love evident in the record.
