According to a report, three former Texas high school student-athletes died in a horrific crash following a police chase.
Phabian Bynaum, 19, Davarius Bynaum, 20, and Malik Thomas, 21, all former Cameron High School students, were killed in the crash on Thursday.
Milam County Sheriff Mike Clore informed FOX 7 Austin that Phabian Bynaum was traveling more than 20 mph over the speed limit on US 190 between Cameron and Milano. He claimed that after one of his officers failed to stop the vehicle, a chase ensued.
A press release from the Texas Department of Public Safety says that Bynaum lost control of his car when he tried to pass another car. After that, the vehicle collided with a tree, barreled through a fence, flipped, and caught fire in a field.
“This had an impact on the families, but it also had an impact on our community. Each of the boys belongs to all of us. These are our children, our infants “a speaker told a prayer gathering on Friday.
Counselors will be available for students and staff at all Cameron ISD schools, according to Superintendent Kevin Sprinkles.
