When Zoe’s daughter was just five weeks old, she decided to let her have “her first sleepover” and dropped baby Parker at her mother’s house for the night. The whole thing appeared perfectly okay, apart from the fact that Zoe’s new-born girl was taking a long time to feed.
The mother from UK shared in a viral video series on her TikTok page. She mentioned that the baby Parker came home next morning next morning but had to be woken for feeds and still wasn’t eating well.
But alarm bells didn’t start ringing for Zoe until Parker woke up from a sleep two hours later in a troubled state and struggling to breathe or make sounds. Zoe showed this in one of her videos.
Zoe promptly called an ambulance, but wasn’t able to get through. In the end, a next-door neighbour drove the mother and baby to a nearby hospice, where she spent the following 16 hours in emergency. Ultimately, she was moved to a bigger hospital where the new-born was identified with Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) which can be fatal to little ones.
Over the next few days, Parker’s situation continued to worsen, with the small baby finally placed on a breathing machine with a severe chest infection.
Zoe explained that luckily over the next 24 hours, with the help of antibiotics, baby Parker started to breathe on her own again. She said that she hadn’t held her baby for a week but doctors finally let her hold her and after a week in the hospital, doctors said that she could bring her baby home.
But awkwardly for Zoe, her nightmare was far from over even after Parker made a full recovery. The mother was being criticized online for leaving her baby at her mother’s place for overnight.
Thousands of trolls targeted Zoe, accusing her careless conduct as the reason her baby got sick.
Zoe addressed these criticisms in a distinct video, where she started by saying that her children were not ignored. She firmly state that her children are fine, her children are happy and children are healthy.
She went on to say that she had made a choice about her own child’s care when she left Parker with her mother. Zoe said that others cannot make that choice for her and it doesn’t make her an evil parent and doesn’t mean that she should be mum-shamed.
Zoe explained that Parker didn’t catch RSV because she is a uncaring mother but she caught it from her big brother instead and it’s a very common disease.
