If you wish to save money and reduce food waste, A TikTok mum’s hack could be of interest to you.
The hack has split the internet, with some calling it “horrifying” and others calling it “brilliant.”
The eco-friendly mother, known as ‘Myplantbasedfam’ on TikTok, routinely broadcasts plant-based, healthful dishes.
However, one of her more recent videos has sparked interest. The mother claimed that she washes and eats her son’s leftover spaghetti to remove the sauce in order to decrease food waste and save money.
@myplantbasedfam I feel like I’m about to have my feelings hurt posting this 😅 #plantbased #plantbasedfood #marriedlife #plantbasedmom #pasta #debate ♬ Just a Cloud Away – Pharrell Williams
Her husband thinks it’s strange, but she believes it’s totally normal, so she wants everyone to weigh in and settle the argument.
The mother captioned the video, ‘I feel like I’m about to get my feelings hurt by uploading this.’
She explained she needed help to resolve an argument for her. She wanted a different kind of pasta, and her son didn’t touch his spaghetti at all over lunch. So she opted to retain the pasta by washing off the sauce and making the pasta that she wanted to eat again, which was her kimchi pasta from her earlier video.
However, her spouse thinks it’s strange that she did this. When she was rinsing off the noodles, he looked at her as if she was insane. “So, is it strange, or is it a decent approach to decrease food waste?”
The video has had 401.3k views, 22k likes, 422 comments, and 103 shares.
TikTok users were split on the woman’s decision to re-use her son’s spaghetti, with many expressing their thoughts in the comments section.
“I mean, it’s odd, but it doesn’t mean it’s not a good concept,” one individual commented.
“It’s an excellent approach to decrease your waste because it would’ve gone in the garbage otherwise, and when you got an idea to utilize it for, why not?” said another.
“Personally, I think it’s amazing, although a little weird,” said a third.
Some people felt it was “really brilliant.”
“I wouldn’t do it- it’s odd,” another person commented. I would have eaten my kids’ spaghetti or saved it for later and eaten whatever I wanted. But good luck to you.”
One TikToker, on the other hand, stated, “I’m horrified.”
“Weirds me out,” another user acknowledged.
