Ray Liotta has died. The actor died in the Dominican Republic.
Ray was on the island filming “Dangerous Waters,” and a source close to the actor stated that he died in his sleep. It’s been said that the death was not strange, and no wrongdoing is suspected.
Ray’s fiancée, Jacy Nittolo, was with him in the Dominican Republic when he worked on the project.
Liotta is best recognized for his performance as gangster Henry Hill in Martin Scorsese’s 1990 classic “Goodfellas,” in which he co-starred with Robert De Niro and Joe Pesci.
Ray campaigned hard for the role, and the triumph of the picture opened so many opportunities for him in Hollywood… he worked virtually continuously.
He co-starred with Kevin Costner in another legendary picture, “Field of Dreams,” the year before “Goodfellas,” in which he portrayed Shoeless Joe Jackson.
Ray went on to appear in a slew of additional films, notably “Cop Land,” “Corrina Corrina,” “Operation Dumbo Drop,” “Unforgettable,” “Wild Hogs,” and “Blow,” in which he portrayed Fred Jung, the dad of Johnny Depp’s character, George Jung.
Jacy and Ray got engaged over the holidays in 2020. He enthusiastically posted the good news on Instagram.
From his former marriage to Michelle Grace, he has a daughter, Karsen Liotta. Karsen is following in her father’s footsteps as an actress.
Ray was 67 years old.
Rest in peace to one of the classic actors.
