The nonuplets just turned 1! See how the 9 babies are doing today

According to their dad, the world’s first live nonuplets — that is, nine infants born at the same time — are prospering and meeting developmental milestones.

The children’s father, Abdelkader Arby, said on the nonuplets’ first birthday on Wednesday that they’ve all started crawling now. Some can sit up and walk if they hold on to something.

Mohammed VI, Oumar, Elhadji, Bah, Kadidia, Fatouma, Hawa, Adama, and Oumou are the names of the siblings, four boys and five girls. There is also a 3-year-old older sister called Souda among the nine babies.

Arby and his 26-year-old wife, Halima Cissé, welcomed the children on May 4, 2021, in Morocco. The couple moved to Morocco from their home nation of Mali in West Africa to seek specialist medical treatment.

Dr. Youssef Alaoui of the clinic expressed last year that at the Casablanca Ain Borja Clinic, they have seen all kinds of severe medical problems, but the delivery of nonuplets that’s a first for them. It’s a world first, and they are honored to have had this exceptional opportunity owing to their medical and technical competence.

Alaoui stated at the time that the clinic’s health care personnel were able to extend Cissé’s pregnancy by five weeks, allowing her to deliver the infants at 30 weeks. (A full-term pregnancy is defined as 40 weeks.)

Premature birth, gestational diabetes, high blood pressure, and a cesarean delivery are all dangers of having multiple infants, according to the Mayo Clinic.

In an interview Alaoui revealed that an ultrasound revealed Cissé was expecting seven infants.

He explained, imagine their amazement when nine of them were found at the birth. Fortunately, they were unaffected since they have one of Morocco’s largest newborn resuscitation programs. Their personnel were prepared to welcome these youngsters into the world and provide them with the greatest possible care.

The Moroccan clinic is still caring for the newborns, and each one is special.

Arby expressed they all have distinct personalities, adding, some are calm, while others make a lot of noise and cry a lot. Some people expect to be picked up all the time.

All of this activity is obviously exhausting for their parents. Arby explained, it’s not easy, but it’s fantastic. Even though it’s exhausting at times, they are delighted when they see all the newborns in great health, in a line from right to left. Everything else is forgotten.

This weekend, the family will celebrate the siblings’ first birthdays in a modest gathering accompanied by clinic personnel and family neighbors.

Arby stated, nothing beats the first year. They will treasure this wonderful time they are about to have.

The children were also honored at the time of their birth. They set a Guinness World Record for “the most kids born in a single delivery to survive,” succeeding Natalie (Nadya) Suleman, a.k.a. “Octomom,” who gave birth to eight children in 2009. (octuplets).

These are the only nonuplets who have survived for several days after delivery; other nonuplet kids have perished within days. Nonuplets in Australia perished within a week of their birth in a case that made news in 1971.
