A Florida teacher is facing criminal charges after cops claim she sent obscene messages to a pupil.
Julie Hoover, 38, has been accused with seeking or participating in sex with a pupil as an authority person. Hoover taught at Point of Grace Christian School in Perry, Fla., where the claimed victim was an 18-year-old senior.
As per an arrest report, the student’s mom notified officials on June 2 after discovering inappropriate texts between Hoover and her son. According to the mom, Hoover was reportedly attempting to organize for the pupil to enter her home while her husband was at work.
According to the investigation, Hoover and the student exchanged texts in March and April 2022. Hoover was the teacher in at least one of the pupil’s classes.
Hoover, a St. Leo University graduate, had been a mathematics teacher at the school since 2018. As per her LinkedIn career history, she worked as a financial director at the Boys & Girls Clubs in addition to being a teacher.
Hoover has been freed on a $15,000 bail. She has not yet filed a plea, and there is no counsel permitted to talk on her behalf listed in court documents.
