As we’re sure all mothers would agree, the first time you leave your child with a babysitter is usually a heartbreaking event – yet it has to eventually happen. Right?
Danielle Mitchell, a first-time mother, was nervous about being apart from her 10-month-old baby before going out on a date night with her hubby earlier this month.
Danielle detailed how her kid was unhappy about going to sleep that night in a TikTok video that has received over 154,000 “likes.”
The mom described that she tried to put him down, and so did her hubby, but he simply wanted to be held. So their babysitter simply rocked him for 15 minutes before they left. She said he was incredibly easy and then he slept the rest of the night.
Danielle decided to check her house cams while they were out to supper to see how her kid was doing. However, the mother noticed the babysitter dozing off on the sofa. She attempted not to worry at first, thinking the babysitter was merely listening to the audiobook she’d mentioned.
Danielle contacted the babysitter to ask her to allow their dog inside to see if she was awake, yet she didn’t move. The mom expressed that from within, she is beginning to worry since she’s supposed to be watching their son and she’s sleeping.
He’s also sleeping, but he’s just 10 months old, and she is not sure if the babysitter noticed him if he woke up and started wailing. The mother, sick with concern, rushed home at 9:30 p.m., only three hours after they’d gone.
Danielle first wanted to give the babysitter the benefit of the doubt, hoping she had relocated the baby monitor to the living room in case their kid awakened.
She said she is not sure what to think. Is it common for your babysitter to fall asleep while babysitting your children? It’s not like they got back at 2 a.m.

Interestingly, the quandary provoked heated debate in the comments section.
“Definitely a first-time parent overreaction, and that’s fine,” one said. He was sound sleeping and secure.”
“I mean, are you awake 24/7 while you watch your kid?” said another.
“I used to babysit a lot as a teenager,” wrote a third. I would NEVER sleep at someone else’s place while working.
Even when the children are older.”
A fourth, mocking the mother, remarked, “Tell me this is your first baby without telling me this is your first baby.”
“I suppose she can sleep if the baby is sleeping,” a fifth said. “However, I do have a monitor on.”
