A mother was taken aback after her daughter was purportedly detained since her iPad was only 93 percent charged.
As per the mother, the school wants kids to come to school with their iPads charged ‘no lower’ than 97 percent, and her child received a detention since her 93 percent battery did not meet the standard.
Astonished that her daughter had been punished for something so minor, the mother decided to express her displeasure on Twitter.
She stated that her kid received a punishment since her iPad was only 93% charged when she got to school. The assistant principal, whom she has subsequently addressed, has stated that students would be penalised if their iPad usage falls below 97 percent. She is perplexed. Even questioned anyone ever heard of such nonsense?
The tweet drew a slew of responses from individuals who remarked on how ludicrous the scenario was. One person commented: “This is a mental state. To be honest, I’d be furious.”
The mother then stated that she had texted her daughter’s instructor and informed her that her child would not be completing the detention due to the “trivial event.”
She also stated in her email that, as a teacher, she recognises the ‘need for high standards to be set and kept to,’ but that this policy did nothing except create ‘unnecessary dread’ in students.
The mother explained that her daughter’s original reaction was to not attend, which she did not do since she believed it was a foolish thing to receive a detention over.
The mother claims she then got an email informing her daughter that she had a second chance to attend the detention and that failing to do so would lead to a 45-minute detention with the assistant principal.
She continued that this generated stress in her child and concern about going to school and receiving detention when she had done nothing wrong.
After consulting with her child’s tutor, the mother was told to contact the assistant headteacher, but she has yet to hear back.
She noted that as a teacher herself, she understands the time restrictions he must be under but a reply does not take five minutes, particularly when she has expressed a very legitimate issue.
At Oasis academies, they help all of the young people to master the skills and build the habits they need to be ready to learn each day, and for when they leave school to move onto higher education or a place of employment, stated a spokeswoman for Oasis Academy Mayfield.
This involves the necessity of being on time, following uniform instructions, and having the necessary equipment for the school day ahead.
They also stated that while they are unable to remark on specific students, their staff teams work hard to ensure that these rules and guidelines are enforced equally and humanely. If any of the parents have any issues or queries about this or any other problem, they should contact the school immediately.
