A 28-year-old mother was sentenced to prison after giving birth to a baby boy on a sidewalk on a below-freezing day and dumping him.
A court sentenced Trinity Shakespeare to two years and one day in jail, with 18 months of supervised release. She has gotten credit for 210 days of time served and might be freed in March.
Shakespeare was also compelled by a judge to enroll in a substance addiction treatment once she was released.
Omaha Police got a complaint concerning a welfare check on a lady between 24th and P streets about 10 a.m. on Feb. 13. Shakespeare had given birth on the pavement, then left the infant, officers discovered.
