On December 27, 2022, John Amos, well known for his role as James Evans Sr. on the CBS television series “Good Times,” was 83! Aside from his birthday, the actor had a lot to be thankful for, including the affection he got from his kids.
According to his IMDb page, John had six kids with three different women he’d married throughout the years. The star apparently had 2 kids in each of his relationships.
His followers were familiar with two of his kids, K.C. Amos and Shannon Amos. According to sources, the actor was adored by his kids, and his son and daughter paid tribute to dad through social media messages.
They also frequently posted great memories with their dad on social media. Shannon recounted one such post, in which she and John described a wonderful experience that no one would ever forget.
Shannon published an Instagram film in October 2022, weeks before John’s birthday, that would survive long after her dad died. Shannon began the video by requesting the star if she may dance with him.
The two then went outdoors, where the star’s daughter assisted in going down a few stairs with the use of a cane. The way she supported him as he relied on the walking stick demonstrated how the famous star’s age was catching up with him.
His love for his daughter, on the other hand, caused him to put the cane aside so they could leisurely dance! As he kissed her forehead and they hugged, John and Shannon danced to Luther Vandross’ “Dance with My Father,” and his daughter wrote that she is thankful for this priceless moment with her father.
Shannon was participating in the Dance With Your Father Challenge and encouraged others to join her in order to build a memorable moment. The sight of the two moving slowly was comforting.
As shown in a July 2021 Instagram video post, John not only spent time with Shannon but also with K.C. posted a video of the actor dancing with his kid, without cane, at the #SpreadTheCheerUSA event in Denver.
In November 2022, the actor appeared content, as he would when encircled by his kids, sitting outside with his doppelganger son and singing along to Johnny Nash’s “I Can See Clearly Now.” He disclosed that he and K.C. had a nice time “kickin’ it” during the holidays.
Shannon shared a gorgeous vintage Instagram picture of her mom and dad, Noel Jean Mickelson, on June 16, 2020. When her parents married in 1965, interracial marriages were outlawed in 16 states, according to the star’s daughter!
Shannon described how her dad met and fell in love with her mom while they were both students at Colorado State University. John was from Newark’s inner city, while his wife was from the little midwestern town of Estherville, Iowa.
The couple fell in love at first sight, but it was a difficult period in America. K.C.’s sister elaborated, she had no idea her parents were different colors when she was a kid. She simply regarded them as her parents—two individuals who cared for her.
All of that altered when she was five and was on a cross-country vacation with her parents when she was traumatized. A White guy approached them with a shotgun and yelled insults as he ordered the family leave the petrol station in Arizona.
Mickelson’s ten-year marriage to John resulted in a divorce; nonetheless, the actor stayed close to his kids, who admired and respected him. I wish the celebrity a very happy 83rd birthday!
