The long-awaited matchup between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles finally arrived this week. As of Sunday’s 2023 Super Bowl, it might be considered officially underway.
This time, Chris Stapleton was chosen to sing the national anthem before the celebrations started. The artist walked onto the field wearing his trademark outfit and shades.
The native Kentuckian then sang “The Star-Spangled Banner” for the crowd at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, and for viewers at home.
Stapleton joined an esteemed roster of country music stars who have sang the National Anthem at this event, including Carrie Underwood, Luke Bryan, Eric Church, and Mickey Guyton.
In addition to performing the National Anthem, R&B star Babyface also sang “America the Beautiful” and veteran actress Sheryl Lee Ralph sang “Lift Every Voice and Sing” at the pregame festivities of the 2023 Super Bowl.
Watching the country artist perform moved many people deeply. In response to Stapleton’s rendition of the anthem, many people rushed to social media to share their thoughts and feelings.

It wasn’t always the case that Chris Stapleton was a famous singer. Before becoming a performer, the singer worked as a composer. Only after he had already been in the industry for a while did he start to attract attention as a vocalist, and that wasn’t until 2015. He and Justin Timberlake had a performance at the 2015 Country Music Awards. A mashup of “Tennessee Whiskey” and “Drink You Away” by Timberlake was created by the two artists.
In the ensuing years, Stapleton has amassed a plethora of honors. He has won several awards, including around 16 CMAs, eight Grammys, and ten Academy of Country Music Awards.
The singer has previously said that his style of singing is different and may not appeal to all.
The vocalist completely stunned everyone with his performance of the Star Spangled Banner. Thousands of people were moved to tears by it.
