Top Gun: Maverick is a sequel to the iconic 1986 film. Fans of all ages were ecstatic to see Tom Cruise’s character Pete “Maverick” Mitchell reprise his role and offer us a glimpse into his life as a seasoned pilot.
Thousands of fans were ecstatic when it was revealed that Val Kilmer would reprise his legendary role as Tom “Iceman” Kazansky in the film as well!
Furthermore, given the actor’s recent health difficulties, his character making an appearance on-screen meant much more to fans!
Val previously told media outlets how pleased he was to re-appear on-screen with Tom Cruise, stating it felt like no time had gone at all.
As delighted as everyone was about Val Kilmer returning his legendary role for this widely anticipated sequel, there were two individuals who were probably the most excited.
That was Mercedes and Jack, his kids. His daughter uploaded photos from the set with the comment, “Finally allowed to post these pics from the @topgunmovie set 🙂 Maverick out now !”
In the photo, she and her brother Jack are wearing pilot caps, while her brother is wearing aviator sunglasses. And Jack has a striking resemblance to a young Val Kilmer.
The last image was of a sweet father-daughter embrace, which Mercedes most likely enjoyed with her dad while he was on set. It’s very nice that his daughter and son went to the set with their dad and witnessed him at work.
His baby kid Jack resembles his famous father. The likeness is striking!
Val’s health has been a source of concern in recent years, with certain concerns remaining to this day. He’s doing better, but we’re hoping his health improves.
It’s always touching to observe a father’s relationship with his kids. We wish Val Kilmer and his family the best of health!
