Sandra Bullock’s family is grieving the death of Bryan Randall, who died at the age of 57.
Randall died peacefully following a three-year fight with ALS, according to a family statement posted on Monday, August 7.
“It is with great sadness that we share that on Aug. 5, Bryan Randall passed away peacefully after a three-year battle with ALS,” the heartfelt family statement said.
“Bryan chose early to keep his journey with ALS private, and those of us who cared for him did our best to honor his request.
“We are immensely grateful to the tireless doctors who navigated the landscape of this illness with us and to the astounding nurses who became our roommates, often sacrificing their own families to be with ours.
“At this time, we ask for privacy to grieve and to come to terms with the impossibility of saying goodbye to Bryan. His Loving Family.”
Bullock’s sister, Gesine Bullock-Prado, has now paid homage to Bryan, turning to Instagram to do so.
Bullock-Prado posted on Instagram, beside a picture of Bryan looking elegant with a cigar in hand, that she is confident that Bry has found the best fishing spot in heaven and is already casting his lure into rushing rivers teaming with salmon.
ALS is a cruel disease, but there is some solace in knowing he had the best caretaker in her amazing sister and the team of nurses she gathered to help her care for him at home. Bryan, rest in peace.
She added that, in lieu of flowers, please donate to the ALS Association and Massachusetts General Hospital.
Bullock, 59, first met Bryan in January 2015, when he photographed her son Louis’ birthday.
Later that year, their romance became public as they were photographed together at Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux’s wedding.
The Bird Box star, who has two children, Louis, 13, and Laila, 10, earlier told Red Table Talk that she had found the love of her life.
“We share two beautiful children—three children, [Randall’s] older daughter,” she remarked in 2021. It’s the most wonderful thing ever.
“I don’t want to say, Do it like I do it, but I don’t need a paper to be a devoted partner and devoted mother.
“I don’t need to be told to be ever present in the hardest of times. I don’t need to be told to weather a storm with a good man.”
