Tom Ellis and Meaghan Oppenheimer have a daughter!
The Lucifer actor, 44, disclosed on Thursday night that the couple had welcomed their first child together the day before—and even joked that she may have had a hand in ending the SAG-AFTRA strike, which ended the same day with a tentative settlement with Hollywood studios.
Ellis announced the news on Instagram, where he and Oppenheimer, 37, were shown tenderly staring down at the child, who was laying in a hospital bassinet. The new parents were overjoyed as they both gazed down at her with broad smiles.
The new mom also posted two photos of their newborn daughter on her Instagram feed, one of a close-up and the other of Ellis snuggling her on his shoulder.
“Our daughter Dolly Ellis-Oppenheimer was born on November 8th, and within five hours of being alive, she single-handedly ended the SAG strike,” both Ellis and Oppenheimer joked in their captions, adding, “We love her.” Thank you so much to our amazing surrogate.”
Ellis and Oppenheimer began dating in 2015 and married in 2019 at a lakeside ceremony attended by some of the groom’s Lucifer co-stars, including Lauren German, Lesley-Ann Brandt, D. B. Woodside, Aimee Garcia, Kevin Alejandro, and Rachael Harris.
“My new wife @moppyoppenheimer was a little unsure about my choice of transport for the honeymoon,” the Welsh actor captioned a photo of the couple standing on a bridge next to a boat in their wedding attire.
Oppenheimer, whose screenplay credits include AMC’s Fear the Walking Dead and Facebook Watch’s Queen America (which she developed), donned a long-sleeved lace gown by designer Naeem Khan to the wedding.
She also shared a snapshot from their wedding day on Instagram, simply captioned a picture of the two on the dance floor, “Married!!!!!!.”
Ellis previously divorced actress Tamzin Outhwaite after eight years of marriage in 2014. Marnie, 11, and Florence, 15, are the couple’s kids. Ellis also has a daughter from a previous relationship, Nora, who is 18 years old.
In a 2016 interview, the newly minted father of four expressed that while his daughters admire him as a parent, they are less impressed with his acting abilities.
