Mom Was Confused When Her Son Kept Asking Her To Pack TWO LUNCHES For School.

Josette Duran lives in Albuquerque, New Mexico, with her young son, Dylan. One day, while his mom was getting him ready for school, he asked her if she could fix two lunches to take with him. She asked him if the one lunch she normally packs for him was not enough. He told her it was fine for him, but he wanted to give the other lunch to a friend of his at school who never has a lunch to eat.

She was touched by his request, so Josette packed two lunches – one for Dylan and one for his friend. Josette quickly learned that the little boy’s mom was a single mother who had recently lost her job and could not afford to make lunches for her son.

Well that really hit close to home for Josette. It wasn’t all that long ago that she and Dylan were homeless, and living in their car. They barely had any food and had to bathe from the sinks at public restrooms. So Josette started making it a daily habit to make two lunches for her son to take to school with him so he could give his friend some nourishment.

After doing this awhile, Josette received a phone call from the school’s principal. He wanted to see her in his office. She obliged him and showed up at the time he asked of her. When she arrived, she was introduced to a woman, the mother of the little friend her son had been taking lunches to.

She held out her hand to give Josette some money, saying: “I know this isn’t much, but I just got a job, and I know you’ve been feeding my son.”

Josette shook her head and refused to accept any money from the woman. She decided to do something else instead. She coaches the school’s volleyball team, and she and the team members worked to raise $400. That money went to pay off all past due lunch debts from children at the school.

After that, no one had to worry about paying for any past lunches. The slate was clean. And all the children could comfortably have lunch at school. Just the way it should be.
