Ping Pong is a great game to play if you’ve got tremendously quick hand-eye coordination. But in this case, Ping Pong is a great dog, one that you’ll hope that you have on YOUR side if things start going south. Ping Pong is a black and white dog that is being hailed as a hero in Thailand.
One day, the animal was spotted by its owner, Usa Nisaika, scratching at a pile of dirt on the farm where they live. When Usa went over to investigate all the commotion by his dog, he was horrified by seeing an infant’s leg sticking up from the dirt. He quickly dug out the tiny baby boy and rushed him to the nearest hospital.
Doctors quickly tended to the 5 pound, 2 ounce infant and determined there were no apparent serious injuries from being buried alive. Usa and nearly everyone in his village claimed Ping Pong was absolutely a hero because of his efforts in saving that child. And beyond that, Ping Pong only has three working legs.
Says Usa: “I have had Ping Pong since he was born and he has always been very loyal and obedient. When he was younger a car hit him and his back leg was injured. He cannot use it but he still helps me when I’m herding cows.”
Police quickly began investigating the incident and a day later arrested a 15-year-old girl who had given birth to the child and buried it alive on Usa’s property. She was charged with attempted murder. She told police that she did what she did because her parents would have been extremely angry at her for becoming pregnant.
Once notified about it, the girl’s parents agreed to take in the child. But authorities held off on that while discussing the matter with government welfare workers. Governor Wichian Chantharanothai said the young girl’s mental health would also be evaluated.
Said the governor: “Police officers are preparing to prosecute the mother but she is also a child and we must consider her mind and be professional. It is important that she is nurtured and treated fairly.”
