Money doesn’t matter when it comes to true love. Do you know what matters? Chicken… and maybe a side of mashed potatoes and gravy. Ok, that might ring a little more true for a nameless South African man when he proposed to his girlfriend at a table inside a Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant.
Now for most it doesn’t really matter where that proposal is done… as long as it IS done. I mean, would you rather be at a ball game on the couple cam and get rejected? Or do the rejecting?
KFC seems a nice place with a small crowd to act as witnesses. And the smell there is certainly a lot better than a ball park. The man was all smiles during his proposal to his special gal. And she was thrilled. It was an extremely heart-warming moment.
It was actually captured on video by a passerby in Vaal, South Africa. The video shows the surprised girlfriend tearing up and saying Yes to her man’s marriage proposal.

Afterwards, they were both grinning from ear to ear, as other onlookers took photos of them during the wonderful moment. But after it was posted on a media site, one South African journalist, named Anele, responded by trying to drag the man down.
This was her post: “SA [South African] men are so broke they even propose at KFC. They have absolutely no class, I mean who proposes at KFC.”
Well, that didn’t go over too well with a LOT of people who read it. Many would argue that when you have love, you are NEVER broke. The nasty post by Anele received so much angry response that she finally deleted it. No apologies, though. But others who read that hateful post wanted to make sure the couple had a nice wedding.
Offers of free food came from KFC and others. And many offered their services for them and many items… all for free.
So, as it turned out, the South African man proposing to his girlfriend in the KFC was exactly the right thing to do. And it was made even better by all of those who realize that love doesn’t require a ritzy place; merely two beautiful hearts.
