In the city of Summerside on Prince Edward Island, 5-year-old Alecia Arsenault gave her grandmother, Mae, the PERFECT gift for her birthday. It was a snowball.…. Okay, for a 5-year-old, that IS the perfect gift.
And now, after 11 years had passed, everyone had forgotten about that moment until someone in the family came across a photo of a much younger Alecia giving her grandmother the “gift.”
Says Alecia: “I’m not sure what was going on in my 5-year-old mind that I decided a snowball would be a perfect gift.”
But, really, in a way, it was. Because if you’re a grandparent, you know that practically ANYTHING your grandchildren give you as a gift… will be cherished. Even a snowball.
And when the family started talking about it again, Mae had a surprise for all of them. She had KEPT that snowball. It was in her freezer in a plastic bag. And every time she opens the freezer door, that wonderful memory of getting it from Alecia comes back to her.
And even with the three or four times Mae has moved during those 11 years, she has always made SURE to keep that Perfect gift from her precious granddaughter.
