Centerria Manning was at her Michigan home with her 4-year-old daughter, Calise, when she started having an epileptic seizure and collapsed on the floor. She was 9-months pregnant too.
When Centerria opened her eyes, she was looking at her young daughter above her on the phone with a 911 dispatcher. Calise remained very calm as she told the dispatcher what had happened to her mom. She told the dispatcher that her mom was shaking and that she was having a baby, and that she really needed some help.”
With Centerria have epilepsy, she had been preparing her daughter for what to do in case she had a seizure since she was 2 years old.
When medical units arrived, Centerria was taken to a hospital and gave birth the very next day to a baby boy. And Calise told her mom, “I told you I was gonna take care of you if something happened.”
Young Calise was honored at the family’s church for her bravery and keeping calm during a very scary situation.
