Max looks like any other healthy, rambunctious 9-year-old boy in Nampa, Idaho. But he’s not. Max has a terrible cancer in his blood. And because of it, he has to spend most all of his time indoors, even though he would really love to be having fun outside, just like any other 9-year-old boy.
It broke his parents’ hearts when they learned Max had cancer, just like it would any other parent to be told this about their child. But Max and his parents are not alone. There are people out there who want to do whatever they can to help them in whatever way they can, and, hopefully, to help find a cure for that blood cancer running throughout Max’s body. And the Treasure Valley firefighters in Nampa are a big part of those who want to help the family.
Earlier this year, the firefighters had their second annual Crossfit Climb to raise money for the leukemia and lymphoma society. Some 20 firefighters participated and raised money to help the little boy they call Mighty Max.
They wanted him to know they’ve got his back, and they support him completely. And they’ll do whatever it takes to make the bad blood go away.
