The NFL added a new song to the pregame schedule for the 2023 Super Bowl and asked actress Sheryl Lee Ralph to sing “Lift Every Voice and Sing” for the first time at the event.
James Weldon Johnson, the founding head of the NAACP, wrote the song in 1900; it was initially meant as poetry.
First sung by 500 youngsters at the Stanton School, the song rose to national fame in the 1950s when the NAACP adopted it as their official anthem.
Sheryl said that she was ecstatic to be selected to perform the song.
She continued that simply wonderful, just lovely. And based on how individuals have been returning, they have commented that she made the pre-show seem like it was attempting to be halftime. They said-the costume, the wardrobe, the hair, the shoes, and the makeup. She simply thanked them all.
