After six years with the Vikings Anthony Harris, 30, joined the Eagles. Audrey Soape, 11, lived outside of Austin who along with the family were big fans of Eagles safety Anthony. After Audrey’s dad and grandfather died, Audrey’s mother Holly reached out to Anthony if he could help by taking her young daughter to the daddy-dancer dance. And to her astonishment the reply from him was ‘YES’.
Anthony expressed that all he did was out of humanity. In his words, “Trying to take off the helmet, trying to take off the cape of what I do professionally and just show some sympathy for that family and try to show some support there.”
He also said, “You gotta cherish these moments. You never know how long we have here on this Earth. So, the people that you care about and you love, show support for them.”
Holly explained that her daughter’s day was made so special as Anthony was truly gentle, sweet, humble and caring. For the big event, Anthony bought a dress, shoes and make-up for the young girl.
Audrey was so touched by Anthony’s gesture that if he wanted he could easily say ‘no’ by saying he is busy. Instead he took time out from his busy schedule for Audrey to make her feel special.
Holly explained that her daughter Audrey had the most horrible year. So she was thrilled and nervous about the evening. In her words, “For someone to show up and to teach her that people do show up, it’s just beyond a blessing. Just the power of God and how he makes these situations happen has just been unbelievable and remarkable.”
It warms the heart to see someone taking time out of their life to make someone else meaningful. If you agree please share this heartwarming story.
