9-year-old Javier Amos lives in Waterloo, Iowa. And he’s had to battle leukemia for quite a while.
When representatives of the Make-A-Wish foundation showed up at his doorstep, they asked him what he wanted the most. Javier could have told them any number of things…. a trip to Disney Land, to meet his favorite athlete, to sing on stage with his favorite singer. But none of that really mattered to Javier. What DID matter were his friends at school.
So he asked the make-a-wish representatives if he could have a pizza party for all of his classmates, so they could all share in something nice with him.
For the past year, the young boy has spent a lot of time in the hospital for chemo treatments. He didn’t get to see his classmates a lot because of it. He really missed them. And this pizza party could keep all of them together for awhile.
So one day this past September, Javier and his family made a special entrance to the school in a police car, with lights and sirens going. All of his friends were waiting for him outside in costumes and chanting his name.
