A cheerleader, a student at Southern University and A&M College in Louisiana, was discovered dead hours after posting a startling note on her Instagram account. Arlana Miller, 19, of Texas, died on Wednesday after writing a devastating statement on Instagram indicating her intention to commit herself. She discussed death and her past with suicidal thoughts in it.
The note read, may this day offer her serenity and rest. She has been fighting this inclination since she was a teenager. She fought for this life with everything she had and is grateful to everyone who has come into her life. She can only think how this may have found you; she has been surrounded by individuals who may have honestly thought that she was alright, but she hasn’t been okay for a long time.
It also mentioned her struggles with her school, Covid-19, and damaging her ACL ligament during the last year.
Miller expressed that she battled so much during just this year alone. From covid to shredding her acl to nearly failing all of her classes, she had it all. To the individuals in her life, she prays that one learns to express one’s emotions and seek help at all times. She failed, and is afraid it’s too late.
She explained she has penned numerous suicide letters throughout her life, however atlast she has reached her end.
She believes this reminds everybody to check on their ‘strong’ friends and to always be available. She realizes she is going against herself but NEVER GIVE UP!!! She understands that she is letting a lot of individuals down by her actions. But the fact is that she has let so many individuals down in her life that it’s becoming intolerable. She has lost contact with God.
She has been dead inside for too long. Please remember that this is not anyone’s fault, and she hopes no one feels guilt in her circumstance. She always wanted to be so many things that she is now, but they’re not sufficient, and she feels she is not sufficient. She hasn’t felt enough for a time however she says all this to say, she is done fighting, Her struggle is ended and she wishes everyone discovers harmony in that.
She died shortly after making the last posting, according to the university’s athletic department. on the Baton Rouge campus,’ Southern University’s President-Chancellor Ray L. Belton said in a statement Thursday that the whole school community is extremely grieved by the tragic loss of Arlana Miller, a student who was majoring in agriculture on the Baton Rouge campus.
The statement stated that on May 4, 2022, at roughly 9PM, Southern University Athletic Department was aware of a social media post which eventually led to this tragic announcement.
The sports department emphasized how Miller’s death happened during Mental Health Awareness Month, ‘a chance to build awareness of mental or behavioral health concerns and to assist alleviate the stigma that many endure.
Athletic director Roman Banks and the school’s sports department in a statement that ‘they appeal for one’s prayers, love and support. They extend their heartfelt condolences to the Miller family, SU Cheer, and friends. Love you Arlana #ForeverJag,’
Miller’s demise comes after a string of suicides among student-athletes. Three high-profile college student-athletes have committed suicide since the beginning of March.
According to information published in 2013 by the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, suicide is the second greatest cause of death among college students. Each year, around 1,100 suicides happen on college campuses across the United States, despite the fact that no comprehensive count of suicide attempts data is available in the United States.
