Cindy Williams, well known for her depiction of Shirley on the hit show “Laverne & Shirley,” has died.
The demise of their wonderful, humorous mom, Cindy Williams, has given them overwhelming pain that could never be properly articulated, her family said in a statement Monday. It reads that knowing and loving her has been their delight and honor. She was one of a kind, attractive, and giving, with a wonderful sense of humor and a sparkling attitude that all adored.
Williams appeared in the iconic comedy for eight seasons, from 1976 to 1983, with Penny Marshall. “Happy Days” spin-off “Laverne & Shirley.”
The program was a huge hit, becoming the most-watched sitcom in the United States at one time and earning six Golden Globe nominations and one Emmy nomination.
When Williams got pregnant during the eighth season of “Laverne & Shirley,” she departed the show. Her profession, though, has seen her take on Broadway ventures, make guest appearances on series such as “8 Simple Rules,” and even rejoin Penny Marshall on an episode of “Sam & Cat” in 2013.
In 2015, we got Cindy out in New York City to chat about her “Laverne & Shirley” recollections.
Cindy was 75 years old.
Rest In Peace.
