El Paso County Sheriff’s Deputy Tony Scherb whipped and nae-nae’d out of the department to celebrate his retirement after 29 years of service, a humorous move recorded on camera.
Scherb lassoed some of his coworkers into joining him while dancing to Silentó’s Watch Me (Whip/Nae Nae), but they soon transformed into their “work faces” as the boss strolled by.
Over 3 million people watched the video.
They simply thought, ‘Hey, let’s do something fun to celebrate something exciting to honor his retirement,’ media relations manager Jacqueline Kirby stated.
In the end, the reaction was far greater than we anticipated, particularly for a law enforcement organization, she continued.
Kirby insisted that the film had nothing to do with Facebook likes- What they hope people see is that, while officers’ primary role is to protect and defend, they are also human. They can have a good time. That’s exactly what they did.
In reference to Scherb, Kirby stated that Tony is one of the funniest and friendliest deputies she has ever encountered. He had a fantastic career and will be sadly missed. Just a good person and a good deputy.
