Some couples will show you that love can last an incredibly long time. 26-year-old Abigail Lydick wanted to do something really special for her grandparents’ 60th wedding anniversary that was coming up. The fact that she was a professional wedding photographer played into that special part quite well.
George and Ginger Brown traveled from South Carolina to be with their family in New Jersey. When they got there, Abigail asked them to dress up so she could take them out to celebrate. But that celebration turned into an all-out wedding-style photo shoot, capturing beautiful moments shared by the couple.
George was dashing in his vest and tie, and Ginger was quite beautiful in the wedding dress that had been picked out for her. Hair and makeup also was done for the couple. George and Ginger were very nervous about being in a photo shoot like this; they had never before had an experience like it, and didn’t know what to expect.
Says Abigail: “It was just fun to be able to surprise them and spend time with them…My grandma had never even had professional hair and makeup done before, so that was another totally new, fun experience for her as well.”
But Abigail was not alone in making the photo shoot a complete success. She had several friends willing to help her out. Florist Angela D’Andrea donated the flowers, and makeup artist Christine Swope took care of the hair and makeup services. Ginger’s wedding gown was loaned to her by Bridal Suite Boutique in Hamilton, New Jersey.
Says Abigail: “They were all so excited about it…They picked out a dress that was super similar to my grandma’s dress in her original wedding photos, with just a little bit of a modern twist.”
Ginger’s nerves were calmed when she could see the results of the hair and makeup, with the gown she was wearing. It was all smiles after that. George and Ginger met in 1958 and got married the very next year. Their family includes 4 children, 18 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. And with these new photos, their youthful antics shine through. It was a beautiful anniversary gift for a very beautiful couple.
