Derek Hough Marries Hayley Erbert in a ‘Regal’ Redwood Forest Wedding Complete with a ‘Epic Barn Dance Party’

The couple, Derek Hough and Hayley Erbert, are legally married.

In front of 106 guests, the former contestants of Dancing with the Stars were married on Saturday in Monterey County, California.

Erbert expresses that they were married right in front of this mother tree that is surrounded by all of these lesser trees, even though they’re in a redwood forest. They scatter every seed, and it grows like an army of kids to guard the mother. Its symbolism was exquisite. They are here to start their family by sowing seeds.

The event began on Thursday with a welcome party at a stunning cliffside house in Carmel, which Erbert, 28, had arranged with the aid of Simply Troy Lifestyle + Events. It’s among the most beautiful sites, claims Hough. It’s just like a fairytale.

The next day, the happy couple had a garden rehearsal dinner with family, friends, and the wedding party. Hough, 38, characterized the event as “a big love fest,” and family members gave speeches for the couple.

The bride and groom made heartfelt vows at their emotional wedding, which was conducted by Hough’s brother-in-law. Erbert accessorized a bespoke Marchesa duchess satin gown by Georgina Chapman with a long veil, blusher, and jewelry by Ring Concierge. Erbert praises her outfit, describing it as “all very classic, timeless.” Hough donned a Brooks Brothers suit to the reception and a Tom Ford suit to the wedding. Paris Jewelers made both the couple’s wedding rings and Erbert’s unique diamond engagement ring.

Erbert entered the ceremony to a unique version of Richard Walters’ “Unconditional” (which Walters had rewritten and recorded especially for the pair). Erbert asserts that he’s going to weep for sure. She is certain about it. Honestly, they both.

Following the wedding, attendees went to the reception, which was hosted in a century-old barn. The décor, which included blooms by In Blume, stationery by Minted, and Signature chandeliers, gave off a “regal” yet “rustic” atmosphere. Theoni offered rentals for the celebration while the Jordan Kahn Music Company played.

Numerous of the couple’s well-known pals were there to celebrate the couple’s big day, including Julianne Hough, Jenna Johnson, Frieda Pinto, Amy Purdy, Maria Menounos, Shawn Johnson, Nina Dobrev, Shaun White, Robert and Kym Herjavec, and Alfonso Ribeiro.

According to Hough, what’s vital to them? was the question they asked themselves while considering a place. The first thing he saw was nature. They wanted to be surrounded by plants and trees, so Northern California kind of spoke to them. They only wish for others to visit this natural area, which they like, and to feel how wonderful it feels.

Hors d’oeuvres and Casamigos drinks were served to guests, and for dinner there were steak, salmon, and vegetarian choices. The couple selected a dessert bar and a huckleberry lavender cake from Kelly Gray Cakes. The late-night munchies, which included seasoned fries, little corn dogs, Erbert’s favorite grilled cheese and tomato soup shooters, and mini corn dogs, greatly thrilled both Hough and Erbert. She exclaims that their food is one of the things that she is so thrilled about!

The newlyweds, who got engaged in June of last year, performed their first dance to Forrest Blakk’s song “Fall Into Me” on an antique mirror floor in what the couple described as a “pure magic moment.” Although they both make their living as performers, they both agree that they wanted something straightforward for that important occasion.

Before the wedding, Hough said that it was very lovely, but he would like to add this. He believes everyone is expecting them to have a performance and dance the entire thing. However, if they perform, they go on stage, dance, and do stuff. So when they choose not to perform, it seems more precious to them to just be in the present while on the floor together and listening to music.

Erbert changed for the reception into a Marchesa-made, bespoke lace dress with a tulle skirt and detachable train.

Hough’s Dancing with the Stars partner, Mark Ballas, served as his best man, and each of Hough and Erbert had six bridesmaids and groomsmen. They started a “epic” bachelor and bachelorette party before the wedding.

It was a full-fledged, six-day extravaganza. He is talking about a neon dance party, an escape room on a boat, and Survivor-style obstacle courses. It was the most crazily spectacular event ever, claims Hough.

The honeymoon will thereafter take place in Italy: They’ve never visited. He participated in a competition, but that’s about it. They’ve never had a decent experience with it. Therefore, it’s fantastic since it will be a destination they can explore together for the first time, adds Hough. And they’re traveling all over, stopping at places like Lake Como, Positano, the Amalfi Coast, Rome, Tuscany, and Florence. They’re making every effort.

Hough is taking in the process of cementing the agreement and what it means to be Erbert’s spouse as they anticipate an eternity together.

It’s so interesting what a small piece of metal can do to one’s whole persona and outlook on everything, where all of a sudden it’s sort of like, ”oh, I have this promise that I carry with me all the time,” he adds. And it’s a strong thing to want to be a man in order to fulfill that promise every day for that individual, as well as for oneself and others. It’s an exquisite thing. For that reason, he is eager to strive to be that guy every single day for her, for their animals, and for their future family.

Being able to dance through life with someone is a dream come true for Erbert.

She said that a few weeks ago, they visited Disney, and there was the sweetest little elderly couple swing dancing. She thought it was wonderful that there was a band performing. That’s something she wants to do when they’re older. That’s what she looks forward to, dancing together and loving each other forever.

Hough continues, Let’s continue this wonderful experience.
