‘Distraught’ Mom Jumps 12 Stories to Her Death While Holding 5-Yr-Old in Her Arms.

In early 2021, New York City Police responded to a terrifying plea for assistance after a mom allegedly jumped to her death from a Manhattan flat building. The incident became even more terrible when it was revealed that the woman was not alone – she leapt from a New York City high-rise while holding her 5-year-old kid.

Oksana Patchin, 39, has already been identified as the mother. Patchin allegedly resided in Prospect Heights, Brooklyn, but she and her 5-year-old daughter, Olivia, were thought to have gone to a high-rise building on West 53rd Street in Manhattan’s Hell’s Kitchen district to see friends.

But, shortly after their arrival, they made their way to the building’s top, where Patchin leapt to the earth below with her daughter in her arms.

Both the mother and her daughter fell 12 floors to the concrete below.

Police officers responded to a 911 call from the area about 1:45 p.m. and discovered them dead. Both victims were unconscious and severely wounded as they lay unmoving in the apartment complex’s front patio.

After being taken to a neighbouring hospital, both the mother and daughter were confirmed dead.

Residents of Hell’s Kitchen were taken aback by the suspected murder-suicide.

It’s unclear what precisely provoked the event, if anything triggered it at all. In fact, a family acquaintance told that she’d had no idea the mother was in such distress.

Everything was going fine with her, an unidentified buddy told the publication. This is unbelievable. This is a disaster.”

The mother reportedly requested the buddy for her keycard at some point during her visit.

Patchin said she wanted to show her daughter the city’s rooftop vista, and it seems that the surprise request did not raise any red flags.

Rooftop cameras subsequently filmed the mother’s and her daughter’s last, heart-pounding moments. She may be seen wandering around the roof before going over a safety fence in the video. Then she grabbed her kid and leaped off the ledge.

Patchin does not seem to have left a suicide note, as per police sources.

Yet, at least one renter who saw her that day noticed something was odd. The renter later told reporters, through tears, that the mother seemed “extremely disturbed,” but the individual could not disclose any specifics.

Patching divorced her spouse last summer and had a history of mental illness, all of which might have been contributing causes, but this is just conjecture at this moment.

According to her Facebook and LinkedIn sites, the mother is originally from Ukraine and graduated from Baruch College with an accounting degree in 2013 before becoming a CPA. In July of 2020, she posted a smiling headshot with a picture of two happy kids.

Unfortunately, this was the second such catastrophe to strike New York City at the time.

Another Brooklyn lady had plunged to her death from a Manhattan high-rise only three weeks before.

In one occasion, though, the lady, identified as Yocheved Gourarie, 24, leapt alone. Friends and relatives say Gourarie battled for years with anorexia and despair, which she freely documented on her Instagram account. Tragically, only days before her death, she wrote a “farewell” letter to her fans.
