A South Carolina dad has been prosecuted after being seen on camera beating his son’s convicted killer inside an Orangeburg County courthouse.
The incident occurred at Lindy Jones’s sentencing hearing on Thursday morning.
Jones pled guilty to the murder of 18-year-old Willie Fields in August.
The courtroom footage reveals Jones before a judge while the victim’s family addresses the court from the first row.
Fields’ father, shown in a green shirt, runs towards Jones, hits him in the back of the head, and finally pushes him to the ground before security pulls the two apart.
Officers then lead Jones out as others restrain the victim’s father.
Fields was discovered shot to death along a road in Orangeburg County. His family reported him missing for many days before he was located.
Jones, who was 19 at the time, was accused in Fields’ killing with his brother, 18-year-old Jalen Jones.
Lindy was charged with murder, while his brother, Jalen, was accused as a bystander.
According to the Orangeburg County courtroom, the dad was accused of third-degree assault and battery.
