On Tuesday, a Virginia dad killed himself after discovering his 18-month-old son dead in the backseat of an overheated automobile.
The dad, who has not been named, was discovered dead in the woods behind his home in Chesterfield on Tuesday with a gunshot wound to the head after police got allegations that he was trying to murder himself. Cops discovered the small child’s body inside the house.
In so many ways, this is a sad tragedy, Chesterfield Police Lt. Col. Christopher Hensley said.
Police believe the dad went to work for three hours in the morning and failed to leave his child off at daycare during the continuing heat wave. As per The Weather Channel, the high temperature in Chesterfield on Tuesday was 80 degrees Fahrenheit.
According to preliminary findings, the dad died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound after seeing his kid deceased in the car. The names of the dad and child have not been revealed by Chesterfield Police.
He was discovered in the woods behind his house about midday, after authorities got a tip about his whereabouts.
On Tuesday morning, the kid’s relatives notified cops that he had not arrived at daycare. Police were called to the 14100 block of Aldengate Road house after the family heard suicidal remarks from the father of the child.
Hensley explained when they arrived, they found the folks in the driveway with an open door and a vacant kid seat in the vehicle. As they entered the house, they discovered a lifeless 18-month-old.
Shortly later, the dad was discovered where the family had predicted he would be.
Hensley expressed that their sympathies go out to the family and friends who will have to cope with this, but they would be irresponsible if they did not take this occasion to remind others how crucial it is to inspect their cars.
As per No Heat Stroke, seven kids, including the 18-month-old, have died in the United States this year after being left in a hot car.
