Osteen was a retired US marine who served as a rifleman with 3rd Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment. On New Year’s Eve just before midnight he decided to kill himself. Though he survived, two days later his family decided to remove his life support.
Pacheco, who was his colleague, partner and the young mother of his month old boy took her own life too.
Their son was born in mid-November who was named Jayce Osteen and has been left orphaned.
