There is light where there is darkness, and there are villains where there are heroes.
That latter distinction was shown unequivocally when four young boys in Detroit’s 7 Mile neighborhood went above and beyond to rescue a puppy in critical need of assistance.
When brothers Kenny, Kenneth, and Kevin Dancy, along with buddy Andrew Daniels, were assisting a local lady who happened to be moving home, they stumbled into a sight that would have startled any adult.
Our heroes of the day! Young dog rescuers starting early. These sweet kids rescued this dog that has been left behind on bungee cords and kept her safe until we could come and get her.

They spotted a deserted puppy bungee-corded to the rear of a home. The tiny pup was very malnourished and shivering from exposure.
The boys realized they needed to act quickly. They covered the dog in a winter coat to keep her warm before releasing her from her chains and bringing her home to give her food and drink. Sparkle was her name.
They happened to run with members of the Detroit Pit Crew Dog Rescue while out walking Sparkle in the neighborhood.
They recounted the men the dog’s tale, and the men thought Sparkle had mange as well. The organization brought her in for veterinary treatment, taking the opportunity to express their gratitude in a Facebook video dubbed “heroes” by the lads.
Our sweet baby Sparkles, just rescued, tested negative for mange! Yeah!

One could tell they really loved this dog, said the organization’s founder, Theresa Sumpter. They were concerned about the dog and wanted to make sure it was going to a good place.
Sparkle was checked at the shelter, and it was determined that she did not have mange. This means she might be placed for adoption right away. Sparkles was placed with a foster mum who would give her all the attention she needed, thanks to Pet Tales Rescue, a sister organization.
Meanwhile, the four little boys, who were widely praised for their generosity, went on to save two additional pets in the same neighborhood. Once again, Detroit Pit Crew Dog Rescue was able to transport the dogs off the streets to the clinic for treatment.
Just rescued! These are two more sweet dogs rescued by the same 4 brothers that rescued Sparkles. We weren't able to…

I couldn’t be more proud of these young men. What bright examples they are to the rest of us!
