Any parent with a child under the age of five will tell you that when things become too quiet at home, it’s a sure indicator that your “little angel” is up to no good. And what if you have two children under the age of five? You’d better keep alert! Breana Naylor of Ohio recently discovered this the hard way when her two toddlers got into some mischief while she was out of the room; however, the picture proof that has since gone viral has parents worldwide chuckling.
Naylor recalls having a few minutes of freedom one day as her 3-year-old son, Colt, and 2-year-old daughter, Kimber, played in another room. As a mother of two, you can bet she makes the most of whatever free time she has. But things took a bizarre turn on this particular day.
When she turned the corner to check on her kids, she saw them both lurking in her closet behind a number of her long gowns.
She envisioned the long cut strands of hair before she saw them, she says, before going on to describe Colt putting the scissors up to Kimber’s head and her sitting extremely motionless as if he told her to.
Every parent fears that their children will take a pair of scissors to their own hair while mom isn’t looking—or, worse, go to town on someone else’s hair. And there it was, right in front of this mother’s eyes.
But, unlike most parents, Naylor found the comedy in it all right away. Her spouse, on the other hand, was rather unhappy.
She emailed her friend and hairdresser Jen Bullock right afterwards, informing her that there was a hair emergency at the Naylor household and that she would need to make a house visit.
Bullock arrived on her doorstep an hour later, armed with a pair of shears. And before Naylor realized it, her stylist and pal had done her thing.
Bullock succeeded in transforming Kimber’s random hairstyle into not just something much better, but also something that seemed to suit her wonderfully.
Naylor says this isn’t the first time her kids have gotten into mischief while she’s not looking, but most of the time it’s simply “normal toddler stuff,” like leaping off the back of the living room sofa or climbing the pantry shelves.
Since the incident happened earlier this month, “before” and “after” pictures of Bullock have been posted to her Facebook page, where they quickly went viral. Thousands of people commented, liked, and shared the post, and they were all impressed by Bullock’s good work.
Naylor says she’s surprised by how viral the entire thing has become, but she’s glad it’s made people laugh. She also adds that she takes care to teach the kids not to play with scissors, particularly when it comes to someone else’s hair. Colt certainly knows that he’s not to use scissors unless Mommy is present to monitor, she says.
