Banu Gengiz is a very kindhearted woman. She’s a pharmacist in Turkey, and she strives to take care of the people in her community. She also loves animals, with a pup of her own at home.
And at night, before she leaves the pharmacy, she leaves out food, water and blankets for the stray dogs that roam the streets. Those dogs love her for that, and they will often gather at her door and wait for her to arrive at work to show their appreciation. They can sense that she’s a person who wants only to help them.
One day in June, Banu arrived at work and noticed one of the dogs that had gathered was acting very strange. It was over-excited. So she asked it what was wrong. She took the dog inside and found that one of its paws was bleeding. So she immediately started to take care of that.
She cleaned the wound with antiseptic and wrapped the paw in a bandage. And all the while she worked on the dog, the animal stayed completely still. It trusted her.
Banu allowed the dog to stay inside with her and relax under her desk. She fed and watered the female dog and even brought her some comfortable bedding to sleep on.
By day’s end, Banu checked on her friend and everything looked fine. So she let the dog back out to join with her friends. Banu even gave some thought to taking that particular dog home with her, but she was worried that it wouldn’t get along with her own dog. So she let it be, knowing that she would continue to see it, and feed it, and give it water.
Says Banu: “Unfortunately, I couldn’t take her home. I’ve been dealing with street animals for years. I feed them and heal them, and help them find homes when I can.”
And there’s a reason she helps these dogs. Adds the pharmacist: “I do it because they feel. We need to help those who need it. People should teach their children to love and respect animals and nature. Then we can all live together in a beautiful world.”
A video was posted of Banu taking care of her furry friend, and it has gone viral.
