A 29-year-old California man has been detained on suspicion of murdering a guy who attempted to rape his girlfriend during their “date night.”
According to a news release from the Laramie Police Department, authorities initiated the inquiry on June 27 at around 7:43 p.m. after obtaining a missing persons complaint. According to the Laramie Boomerang, Hunter Fulton reportedly fatally shot the missing male victim while claiming to be defending his girlfriend.
According to an affidavit acquired by the Laramie Boomerang, Fulton and his girlfriend initially met the victim, identified in records as M.T.C., at Copper’s Bar on June 24 and in the early hours of June 25.
M.T.C. allegedly made a “sexual pass” at Fulton’s girlfriend when they were out on a date. Fulton is said to have confronted the victim and he apologised.
According to the Laramie Boomerang, Fulton and his girlfriend departed Copper’s and checked into the Gas Lite Motel. In addition, the two reportedly used cocaine in the room.
Fulton allegedly left the motel room with the door open, allowing the victim to enter. The victim then reportedly attempted to sexually abuse the woman at knifepoint.
According to the affidavit, Fulton returned to the room and got into a physical struggle with M.T.C., which resulted in Fulton fatally shooting M.T.C.
The girlfriend allegedly returned to California and notified authorities on the afternoon of June 25 that M.T.C’s body was in the room.
M.T.C was supposedly reported missing on June 27, prompting the inquiry. According to the Laramie Boomerang, cops saw Fulton sitting in his car outside the Gas Lite Motel on June 29, and he informed cops they would “find everything you need inside the room.”
Officers allegedly examined the hotel room and discovered the victim’s corpse in the bathtub with torso incisions and a saw nearby. On June 25, Fulton reportedly purchased several saws from a nearby hardware store. Fulton, according to investigators, attempted to dismember the victim’s body.
Fulton was arrested, and during a questioning, he allegedly told officials, “If your girlfriend had been raped, you would have murdered him too.”
Fulton was detained and accused with second-degree murder and mutilation of deceased corpses, as per authorities. Second-degree murder in Wyoming is punishable by a minimum of 20 years in jail and up to life in prison, according to authorities. Mutilation of deceased human remains is said to be punished by up to five years in jail, a $10,000 fine, or both.
