When George Condash stood outside his credit union’s ATM, he observed a black metal box obstructing the road. It was directly in the center of the roadway, next to the drive-through window.
George came to a halt to take a closer look at the box and see what was inside. He initially assumed it was garbage, but he wished to pick it up so that no one else had to swerve around it.
That’s when the Michigan guy noticed a “$40,000” tag on the package.
As it turned out, the box had been left outside by an armored security officer while removing numerous boxes of cash from the ATM. (At the time, there was actually $27,000 inside the box.)
George understood precisely what he intended to do, but it wasn’t an easy choice to make.
He returned to the credit union with the money box and deposited it on the desk.
Is there a $40,000 reward? he inquired. The staff simply looked stunned.
