Officials say a Florida man tossed a Christmas tree at his wife following an altercation began when she requested him to help cook supper.
According to an arrest complaint, Richard Atchison, 52, “lost his temper” at the couple’s Fruitland Park home Monday evening when his wife requested assistance and put a spoon in the sink, accidently splashing him with water.
Atchison grabbed his belongings and walked outside to his car before coming home since “he had been drinking” and urged his wife to leave.
Officers say Atchison assaulted the wife, picked up a Christmas tree in the corner of the room, and tossed it at her, injuring her. He apparently then blocked the front entrance to keep her from leaving.
Atchison was arrested for domestic assault and sent to the Lake County Jail without incident.
