After resurfacing in public a month ago, Matthew Perry’s look sparked considerable worry among admirers.
Late last year, the Friends actor went on a large-scale tour to promote his new book, but he then vanished off the radar.
Considering that the 53-year-old has a lengthy history of drug and alcohol abuse, this alone was enough to worry several admirers, and his ragged, unkempt appearance did not help.
The paparazzi captured Perry looking fat and red-faced. Meanwhile, the actor seemed fatigued when he went outside his Hidden Hills house in Los Angeles to go to Starbucks.
The Massachusetts-born musician was seen for the first time in weeks, clad in a grey Henley shirt and trousers and sporting a scruffy beard.
Perry made news throughout the globe after the November 2022 publication of his memoir, Friends, Lovers, and the Big Awful Thing, owing to the open style of his writing and several contentious beliefs he stated inside the book’s pages.
Perry, who rose to stardom as Chandler Bing on Friends, detailed his colon bursting owing to narcotic addiction, among other things. His family was informed at the time that he had a 2% chance of survival, and he spent two weeks in a coma and five months in the hospital recovering.
Perry told in October that he is really healthy now. It’s vital, but losing one’s sobriety doesn’t mean one loses all that time and knowledge, he continued. The only thing that changes is one’s sober date. One remembers all one knew before, as long as one were able to battle one’s way back without dying.
Perry was also chastised for remarks regarding Keanu Reeves in his biography. Why is it that creative minds like River Phoenix and Heath Ledger die, but Keanu Reeves still walks among them? wrote the Friends star.
Perry subsequently said, in response to the death of Saturday Night Live actor Chris Farley, that he punched a hole in Jennifer Aniston’s dressing room wall when he found out. Keanu Reeves is among them.
Perry subsequently faced blowback for his remarks and was obliged to issue an official apology. According to the actor, he was really a great admirer of Keanu and simply selected a random name to serve as a joke. That was his error, he continued. He apologized and said that, rather, he should have used his own name.
Going ahead, we can only wish Perry the best as he battles his problems. He will be on Suboxone, a medicine used to treat opiate withdrawal, for the rest of his life; however, it will have a significant impact on his capacity to enjoy pleasure.
Personally, I don’t believe it matters how a person looks as long as they are comfortable and healthy. I genuinely hope Matthew Perry is receiving all of the assistance he requires to keep going on his path to recovery.
