May 6 carried more importance for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle than just King Charles’ coronation. It was the fourth birthday of their beloved son Archie, a wonderful event deserving of honor in and of itself. According to reports, the pair said unequivocally that if they were to attend the coronation, Archie’s birthday would have to be honored.
According to author Christopher Andersen, Harry would be “uncomfortable” attending the coronation owing to disclosures in his biography, making Meghan’s choice to remain in the US with their children reasonable since it enabled them to escape intensive attention.
Omid Scobie, a royal specialist, emphasized the importance of Archie’s birthday in Meghan’s decision to stay in the United States.
It all occurred during a private family meal on Saturday, after King Charles’ coronation at Westminster Abbey and the family’s appearance on the Buckingham Palace balcony in London.
King Charles raised a glass to those who weren’t present and wished Prince Archie a happy birthday. It was a touching homage to a grandchild he hasn’t seen in years.

Unfortunately, Harry was not there to witness the heartfelt toast. While he was invited to the private family celebration, he declined and went to California immediately to celebrate Archie’s special day. According to accounts, Harry wasted no time, boarding a jet destined for the United States only hours after his father was crowned.
On this momentous occasion, it seems that Harry prioritized being with his son, emphasizing the deep link between father and child even in the middle of major royal ceremonies. The Duke of Sussex is said to have taken a 3:45 PM flight, landing in Los Angeles at 6:55 PM local time.
The drive from the airport to Harry and Meghan’s massive house in Montecito, California, usually takes around 90 minutes. According to a source, Harry was determined to arrive in time to personally cuddle Archie into bed.
Archie’s birthday party was said to be a “low-key” affair. Family members reported that Meghan herself made a fresh lemon cake using fruits from their own garden. The actual guest list is unknown, but it is thought to have included the closest family members, making for an intimate gathering for the event.
Rather, another event took the stage on Archie’s birthday. Misan Harriman, a close friend of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, used the occasion to highlight a particularly moving moment.
“Wishing you the happiest of birthdays, Archie,” Harriman stated, posting a photo of infant Archie holding an image of Princess Diana.
The image was taken from the Netflix series The Sussexes. While the picture and statement were not extremely contentious, some on social media saw it as photographer Misan Harriman covertly criticizing or overshadowing King Charles’ crowning. But the bulk of comments were favorable, with many remarking that it was a lovely image.
