Miss Argentina and Miss Puerto Rico said they married in secret after confessing to dating secretively for two years.
Mariana Varela, former Miss Argentina, and Fabiola Valentn, former Miss Puerto Rico, first met in 2020 at the Miss Grand International competition. Both finished in the top ten of MGI.
The duo often talked about their bond on social media, but they never openly admitted that they were more than just pals.
In a joint Instagram Reel shared with their combined 245,000 followers, the beauty queens revealed both their romance and their nuptials.
They opened the doors to them on a special day after resolving to keep their relationship secret, the description reads.
The Reel, which had 2 million views and 142,000 likes as of Wednesday morning, is a compilation of footage from their various journeys, along with a romantic boat ride in Mexico and a visit to Jobos Beach in Puerto Rico.
Following the vacation tidbits, the pair posted footage from the night they were engaged, which had red and white balloons, rose petals, and fairy lights illuminating their apartment with gold “M-A-R-R-Y M-E?” balloons on display.
The video then shows Valentn proposing to Varela with an engagement ring. The couple’s engagement ring is nearly identical — a cushion-cut diamond on a pavé band.
At the end of the film, Valentn wears a white blazer dress and Varela wears a white jacket with black slacks as they kiss outside the Marriage Bureau in San Juan, Puerto Rico, where they married on Oct. 28.
Argentina declared same-sex marriage legal in 2010, and Puerto Rico followed suit in 2015.
Fans congratulated the joyful pair in the comments, calling it the greatest Miss Grand has given them.
One individual remarked, “Omg congrats MGI brought together a wonderful union.”
“God bless your marriage and long live love!” another was added
“Omg! Sisters, congratulations! “Lovelovelove!” said one.
On her Instagram stories, Varela responded to the love and encouragement by expressing that they are thankful for all the love. They are overjoyed and grateful. They wish one a multiplication of the love one shows them.
