Casey Garcia, a 30 year old mother has been detained after she spent a day posturing as her 13-year-old daughter at her school to make a point about deprived security. Casey donned a face mask, Marvel hoodie and backpack and went to classes playing to be a teenager.
At one point an unaware teacher told her to put her phone away and she greeted the school principal as she moved around the school. She said it took until the seventh period for someone to spot that she wasn’t her daughter Julia.
In a video posted on YouTube, she fumed: “I’ve been here all day face-to-face with teachers. Do I look like a seventh-grader? No? Cool. Awesome.” Casey said that she ate her lunch in the school canteen and was not confronted.
She said in a video that the school was so concerned that her phone was out that they weren’t even paying attention to who she was. She claimed her activities were driven by a desire to avert a mass shooting at her daughter’s school. She said that she don’t think it should have ever gotten this far.
Casey said that we need better security at our schools and this is what she tried to prove. She further said that this is about our children and their safety and that is all she trying to do is prevent another mass shooting.
However her reason did not impressed authorities and she was detained. She had been charged with criminal trespassing and tampering with government records.
After Casey posted her daring act online, other parents expressed apprehensions. One of them wrote that the fact that the teachers didn’t notice scares them and said that this would’ve never happened when they were in school.
Another posted: “The fact that you don’t really sound like a kid or even act like one should be alarming to these damn teachers cause I would for sure 100% know that you were an adult.”
But not everyone was in support of the trick. One commenter wrote that it is so creepy and feel so bad for the daughter that her mother was arrested and why would she do such a senseless thing like this?
