New mothers have gone insane after discovering what the plastic on the side of baby formula boxes is for.
Gillian Mitchell took to TikTok to tell her followers that she first discovered the small amount of plastic while she was weaning her first kid off formula.
But, upon closer inspection, she discovered that the plastic is really designed to level the top of the scoop of formula.
She wrote that when one is weaning their first child off milk and realize that this small plastic portion determines the powder amount. She knows what she is going to do the second time.
And she wasn’t the only mother who realized the function of the plastic too late.
One user remarked, she was on her third baby when she realized “I was on my third child before I understood this.
To which Gillian answered, she does not feel so awful then haha.
“I used to level it off at the top with a knife until I realized,” said another.
It wasn’t the only component of the formula box that didn’t make as much sense as the manufacturers had intended.
Another mother added, she didn’t realize for decades that the inside of the lid keeps the scoop so you don’t have to pull it out the powder every time.
Others, though, maintained they’d known about the powder hacks for years.
