Story by Lizzy Christian
I don’t want to forget the toy cars all over the house or the 537 stuffed animals snuggled in your bed.
I don’t want to forget your jokes without a punchline or the way you do the same thing over and over once you realize it offsets my belly laugh.
I don’t want to forget the way you can play Legos for hours at the kitchen table, asking for snack all hours of the day.
I don’t want to forget how you light up when you learn something new or realize you really can conquer your fears.
I don’t want to forget the way you follow your daddy around with a tool box when he’s working on projects around the house.
I don’t want to forget the way you squeeze my leg and kiss me goodbye when we drop you off for Sunday School.
I don’t want to forget the way you love to help and say “mom, what can I do?” as I get everything tidied up before your nightly bath.
I don’t want to forget the way you pray and add in “subtle” requests for things you want.
I don’t want to forget the way you hold your sister’s hand and ask her to come play with you at 6:30 AM.
I don’t want to forget all of the little things that make you, YOU.
I don’t want to forget all of the little things you do that make my world go round.
I know I will never forget this season — these little moments are etched into my heart and mind forever.
No matter how tall you grow, you’ll always be my baby.
