One of the best athletes to ever play the sport of baseball is Jackie Robinson. Even after he has departed this world, people continue to respect his family and cherish him.
For the All-Stars game earlier this week, many of baseball’s All-Stars assembled at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles. The anticipation of the next game was palpable among the spectators.
As usual, the national anthems of the United States and Canada were performed before the celebrations started. Mookie Betts, a standout with the Los Angeles Dodgers, then stepped up to the mike.
He addressed the enthusiastic audience and shared a unique message.
The gathering heard him say that today is a special day. Miss Rachel Robinson is turning 100 today. So, on the count of three, he want to wish Rachel a happy birthday on behalf of everyone present.

A heartfelt video tribute to Jackie Robinson’s wife was shown after the birthday celebration. Both of the hexagonal DodgerVision scoreboards displayed the footage.
Jackie Robinson’s reputation extends beyond his sterling play and sportsmanlike conduct. But by signing on with the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1947, he also overcame the color barrier in the major league. The Dodgers didn’t relocate to Los Angeles until after the 1957 campaign.
At UCLA, where she was studying to become a nurse, he met his future wife, Rachel Robinson. Following graduation, Rachel spent the majority of her time raising the couple’s 3 kids. However she did finally graduate from NYU with a master’s in psychiatric nursing.
She has maintained her hectic schedule ever since, serving as both an assistant professor at Yale University’s School of Nursing and the director of nursing at a New Haven, Connecticut, mental health facility.
Rachel has been a strong opponent of discrimination in housing. She continued to work as a nurse until Jackie’s passing in 1972, and she afterwards started a building firm to create inexpensive homes.
The Major League Baseball uniform number 42 was retired upon the passing of the baseball icon. Outside Dodger Stadium, he is commemorated by a statue. During a pre-game ceremony on Monday, Jackie Robinson was recalled and appreciated by the audience.
Denzel Washington welcomed the audience while donning his renowned No. 42 jersey. Washington remarked in his statement that the man “claimed that life is not a spectator sport and he lived that credo to the utmost, whether it was storming down the baselines or standing tall for opportunity and fairness.”
