The Skunk Train has been around for a long time.
It has been in business since 1885. And would you believe that some of the trees on this route are over a thousand years old?
They were able to safeguard the wonderful forest that we have today thanks to the dedication of locals and other volunteers.
The Skunk Train’s moniker baffles many people who are not familiar with its history, but there is a reason for it. It was dubbed the “Skunk Train” in 1925.
The vehicles featured petrol engines as well as pot-bellied burners. Within, crude oil was burning, providing warmth to the passengers.
